Hundred have gathered on the streets surrounding a Glasgow sexual health clinic today to stage a 'counter protest'.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Niall Fraser, a member of The Scottish Family Party, had threatened to “brick up” the Sandyford Clinic on Argyle Street.

Fraser made the comments on a live stream with the party's leader and said: "On March 11 at 11am we are going to be protesting this horrific building.

“The plan is to brick it up. How do we stop kids from entering the building? We have to block the entrance.

“We are going to impede people getting into the building.”

In response to this, the campaign group Cabaret Against the Hate Speech has planned their own action outside Sandyford with large crowds currently in attendance.

It is understood that the group is playing music and has encouraged members of the public to 'bring microphones, megaphones and musical instruments'.

In a statement on Twitter, they said: "We are organising a counter protest against the Scottish Family Party and their event to 'brick up' the Sandyford clinic in Glasgow.

"If you would like to help us challenge their hate speech please join us."

Members of the Scottish Family Party are also outside the clinic holding banners with slogans including 'unborn lives matter' and 'keep trans ideology out of our schools'.

Videos shared with the Glasgow Times show a police presence in place.

The Sandyford specialist sexual health service is operated by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) and is known for providing non-judgmental sexual health services.

These include testing for sexually transmitted diseases, contraception and emergency contraception, counselling, a gender identity service and supplying a type of medication, PreP, that lowers a person’s risk of HIV infection.

We will bring you further updates as we get them.
