A NEW owner is taking over a unit in Shawlands that has been operating as a chippie for more than 100 years.
Staying true to the history of 74 Coustonholm Road, That's Fritto will "continue to serve fish and chips alongside South Italian street food".
We reported that the former business, Guido's Fish and Chips, was forced to close in September last year due to the impact of the cost of living crisis.
Now, the new owner, Stefano Azzaro, is giving the shop 'a new lease on life' with an 'extensive refurb' of the unit.
Stefano said: "We know the historical importance of our location and for this reason, we want to keep operating as a fish and chips shop, but renewing it and integrating it with the classic Sicilian street food culture where you can taste the authentic flavours of Sicily."
Customers can expect delights like the "strong and delicate taste of arancini accompanied by a glass of good wine".
Stefano added: "Also, running the bar will be one of the hottest mixologists in Scotland's cocktail bar scene."
The revamp of the unit will introduce an "impactful and elegant" design with black and white features.
That's Fritto is expected to open in April.
A Smith and Clough Business Associates spokesperson wrote on the company's Facebook page: "We are delighted to announce another Glasgow fish and chip shop sale, having secured a new tenant for our client for Guido's in the trendy suburb of Shawlands.
"The business which has been trading as a fish and chip shop for over 100 years will be given a new lease of life by the new tenant Stefano Azzaro who is undertaking an extensive refurb of the shop before reopening next month as That's Fritto, which will continue to serve fish and chips alongside South Italian street food and a range of wines and beers.
"We would like to wish Stefano buona fortuna in their new venture and we look forward to sampling their menu soon!"
