Hospital volunteer guides have returned to duty at city hospitals following a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19.
Gartnavel General Hospital and the New Victoria ACH Hospital welcomed the return of kind-hearted volunteers.
They work in the atrium areas of the hospitals to provide needed support to patients, visitors and staff.
Noticed by their radiant red uniforms, they help with directing patients to their clinics, assist with check-in machines and are on hand to support visitors with any questions they may have.
Fiona Smith, SHP Director and NHSGGC Strategic Lead for Volunteering, said: “Staff and patients have been delighted to see the welcome guides back in action this week.
“We have received such positive feedback, everyone has commented on how much the volunteers have been missed over the last couple of years.
“Coming to hospital can be a stressful experience, our volunteers provide so much support to our patients and their families and we can’t thank them enough for their enthusiasm and commitment to helping others."
Morag Gilmore, a welcome guide volunteer at the New Victoria ACH Hospital, added: “I’m so happy to be back after three years, it’s great to see old faces and know that I am being of help to the visitors that come here.”
