A Glasgow woman has celebrated 25 years of working with a care charity.
Jeanettie Matthews, from the city's Southside, recently marked her silver anniversary with children’s care charity Kibble.
She is head of finance with the specialist child and youth charity and credits the variety of work and the intrinsic rewards of the organisation for her lengthy service.
Jeanettie said: “I have such fond memories of working with young people and the team here at Kibble over the years.
"A real highlight for me was when we took a group of young people to Mull and Iona for a four-day stay, we got to experience fishing, kayaking and played rounders on the beach.
“We then camped overnight and then took a trip to Staffa to see the puffins – it was such an adventure for us all and the young people had a great time.
“When I started at Kibble the organisation had just seven residential houses and around 200 staff, now we have over 700 employees and provide support and care for 150 young people – it's been rewarding to be a part of this incredible growth and provide care and support for more young people across the UK.
“I hope I have many years to come at Kibble and can’t wait to see what we can achieve as an organisation.
"We are forward-thinking and keen to provide the best-in-sector support for young people and I know we have the right teams in place to achieve even more in the coming years.”
Kibble is an organisation that focuses on trauma-informed care for young people. It has shaped the lives of many children over the years and firmly places the importance on recruiting the right people with the right attitudes, and a sense of commitment that those in its care deserve.
Jim Gillespie, Chief Executive Officer of Kibble, said: “To have Jeanettie celebrate her 25th anniversary with us at Kibble is a significant milestone as she's a pillar for our team and a real asset to the Senior Leadership Team too.
“She has been involved in the growth of Kibble, contributing to the project development of new buildings and pioneering services.
“We recruit ambitious, dedicated and hard-working individuals to support our young people here at Kibble. It’s more than just qualifications to work in our child and youth care sector, it takes determination, empathy, integrity and care and Jeanettie embodies these qualities in abundance.
“Congratulations to Jeanettie and I hope to work alongside her for many more years to come.”
