A man has been rushed to hospital following an attack in broad daylight.
999 crews were called to Houstoun Square in Johnstone around 3.45pm on Thursday afternoon.
The force has said the man was 'a victim of a serious assault'.
His condition is unknown.
Forensics officers were spotted locking down the scene with a cordon in place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Houstoun Square in Johnstone at around 3.45pm on Thursday, March 23, after a man was the victim of a serious assault.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries remain ongoing. Officers remain at the scene.”
