A FORMER hockey internationalist allegedly murdered a woman on the night of his wedding anniversary.
Craig Walker is accused of killing Lauren Wilson at his flat in Renfrew on May 26, 2021.
His wife Seonid Walker told jurors how the 41-year-old had repeatedly denied having an affair with Lauren.
Seonid and Walker had split in 2020 - but they had discussed reconciling and were due to go out for an anniversary meal on the night of the alleged murder.
However, that was scuppered when the air traffic controller said he had been delayed cleaning a large "coffee stain" on his carpet.
He instead later brought back a takeaway meal - but left Seonid's home without eating anything.
Walker denies murdering 34-year-old Lauren as well as then putting her in a large bag planning to dispose of the body.
Seonid, 38, today told the High Court in Glasgow how she married Walker in 2012.
They had met through Kelburne Hockey Club in Paisley.
She said she played the sport more for "fun", but that Walker took it "more seriously".
Seonid told the trial he played for Scotland as well as "briefly" for the Great Britain team.
The witness said they had "unexpectedly" separated in the summer of 2020.
Walker moved out the family home in Paisley and initially stayed in the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew. He then got his own flat in the town.
Despite the split, they kept in regular contact.
The Walkers discussed getting back together and the court heard there were plans for him to move back in at the end of May 2021.
Jurors were told their ninth wedding anniversary was on May 26. A dinner had then been planned for that night at a local golf club.
But Seonid recalled that month getting a friend request on Facebook from Lauren.
The witness thought this "strange". She quizzed her husband about her and he claimed to have known Lauren "from years ago".
Seonid had also seen a text from Lauren sent to Walker.
Prosecutor David Dickson asked Seonid: "Did he say that he was in a relationship with her?"
She replied: "No, he denied it every time."
Seonid was at work as an assistant air traffic controller when she said Lauren then appeared to try and call her on May 26.
The witness told the trial: "I knew then that there was definitely something going on."
She contacted her husband, who claimed they would speak to Lauren together.
Later that afternoon, Walker returned their son to Seonid's before they were all due to go out for the dinner.
Mr Dickson asked: "When with you, did he ask if he could take anything?"
Seonid said: "He asked if we still had the carpet cleaner. He took it and the detergent for it."
Mr Dickson asked: "Did he give you any explanation as to why he wanted the carpet cleaner?"
She replied: "He had spilt coffee."
Seonid recalled later getting in contact with him asking about the meal at the golf club.
He claimed he was "p***ing sweat" from cleaning the coffee stain.
Walker later sent another message stating he was a "d**k" while apologising for being late and "spoiling" his wife's day.
He eventually returned with a takeaway - but no food for himself.
Mr Dickson asked: "Did he eat anything?"
Seonid said: "No, he said that he was not hungry."
The prosecutor asked: "It was meant to be your wedding anniversary dinner?"
Seonid replied: "Yes."
Walker went on to watch the first half of the Europa League cup final on TV that night before leaving.
Seonid said the last contact with her husband that evening was to update him on the score.
The trial, before Lady Stacey, continues.
