NORTH Lanarkshire Council has published details of its plans to redevelop school buildings in Bellshill, creating a new community hub.
A planning application states that the new development would comprise new teaching facilities for Lawmuir and Sacred Heart Primary schools, along with community spaces, sports pitches and associated parking, support space, landscaping and infrastructure. The existing buildings would be demolished.
The proposals will be considered at an upcoming meeting of the council’s planning committee.
Construction would take place in two phases, initially with the creation of a new campus building and seven-a-side football pitch, along with a car park on Footfield Road along with the removal of both existing playgrounds.
The second phase would see the school buildings demolished while other construction work is completed.
