A FIRE has ripped through the building which was previously home to a beloved pub this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to attend the Bullfrog Bar and Lounge on Shields Road, Motherwell, after a fire broke out at around 3.48pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has said that two fire engines are currently in attendance with a third expected to arrive shortly.

Photos and videos circulating on social media appear to show huge clouds of smoke rising from the building as fire crews attempt to extinguish the flames.

It is understood that a police presence is also in place.

The team behind Bullfrog announced that the bar would be closing due to 'spiralling' costs in November last year.

The pub is said to have been a favourite of former Celtic player Kieran Tierney.
