A musician has been left 'shook' after winning the BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year award.

Though Terra Kin, whose real name is Hannah Findlay, picked up the prestigious award two weeks ago, it's safe to say the recognition has yet to sink in.

The 23-year-old singer, who lives in Glasgow but grew up in Cambuslang, said: "I was shook (when they called my name), I just felt really like spaced out and had to perform straight after as well.

"It feels so good to win the award, it feels mad and is pretty surreal.

"It feels like a confidence boost too because people really do believe in me, and the judges are voting for me. So, it has put my imposter syndrome to bay a little bit."

Glasgow Times:

The Island Records artist, who has shared a stage with Fred Again and opened up for the likes of Lucia and the Best Boys, will not just be hosting the nifty trophy in their room.

Up against the likes of Vlure, Aiitee and CHEF the rapper, the rising star will get to play two live sessions at the BBC and will play this year's TRNSMT festival as part of the award.

Reflecting on the win with Glasgow Times, the former Cathkin High School pupil said: "I never thought that I could pursue a career in music, even in school it was never like I played to become famous.

"It’s a dream to do what you love as a job, so, it's still crazy to wrap my head around.

"Even playing venues in Glasgow feels so strange.

"When I was a teenager and getting involved in the music scene, I created a bucket list of venues I wanted to play, and Saint Luke's was on there and last year I got to play the venue when I was supporting Macy Gray.

"It's moments like that where I'm like 'Oh my god, this is actually insane'."

Though parent to a commendable award, Terra is not quite done taking over the jazz and folk scene.

The musician will play a range of festivals and shows this year such as The Great Escape in Brighton, but there is one in particular that feels 'insane'.

They said: "I'm playing Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee later this year and I can't wait to see the Jonas Brothers.

"It's such a full circle moment for me because when I was 10, I loved them, so it will be so cool.

"I also just can't believe they'll be in Dundee."

The musician who released their debut EP 'Too Far Gone' on November 17, is also set to release new music this year whilst working towards the release of their debut album.

They said: "I'd absolutely love to just release an album, that's the dream and the goal, it's in the pipeline, but it's all about timing.

"I think this year will be a busy one, but in a good way."
