THEM Beatles have hailed Glasgow crowds as 'something special' as they gear up for their upcoming show in the city this month.

The tribute band, which consists of Joe Kane (Paul), Clark Gilmour (John), Craig McGown (George) and Chris Webb (Ringo) will hit the Saint Luke's stage on Sunday, April 30, with their 60s wigs raring to go.

Glasgow Times:

Speaking exclusively with the Glasgow Times, Joe said: "We're really excited to be playing Glasgow soon.

"Glasgow is legendary and we've always had great shows here.

"I think Glasgow is a hotbed for The Beatles too and the fact we're a Glasgow-based band, people in the city always seem to have a big love for us coming.

"Glasgow crowds just always get the essence of what we do, and that energy translates into something special."

The upcoming show, which has been branded as a 'treat', has already sold around 400 tickets, and will see the band's first gig in the city since taking an 'indefinite hiatus' in 2017.

Reflecting on their brief disappearance from the music scene, Joe said: "It's been a long time coming for us to get back together.

"I'm amazed that we haven't played for years yet people are still tuning in.

"We have videos on YouTube that are reaching over a million views and fans from all over the world.

"When I think of that it blows my mind."

Now, the band are back and ready for more.

Glasgow Times:

The show comes after a sold-out gig at The Cavern Club in Liverpool last month and will see the band play Please Please Me in celebration of the 'special' record's 60th birthday.

Joe said: "I hope when I count the first song in that everybody just goes insane.

"It's a bank holiday the next day and everyone will be off so I hope it will be chaotic.

"We are hungry for it, and we hope people are too."

Delving more into the origins of the band's love for the Liverpool stars, Joe stated it all started at the age of 12 when he saw the group on TV.

He added: "The Beatles have been like a gateway for me into music, playing the guitar and learning how to dress.

"The Beatles have become more of a 'lifestyle choice' for me and the group.

"Everything that we are now lends to becoming a Beatle fan. We just love them so much."

Joe also revealed that if he ever met Paul McCartney he would 'explode'.

He said: "I think Clark may have met McCartney once briefly but if I did, I think I would just explode.

"I hope to meet him though, hopefully, I'll be in Liverpool one time when he's there popping his head up."
