A MAN caught speeding who threw a cup at a McDonald’s employee avoided jail today.
Andrew Gemmel, 22, claimed that he was driving home to his ill daughter in Glasgow's Springburn on February 22, 2021.
He chucked the missile at a drive-thru of the restaurant which he was banned from a week later in Glasgow’s Royston.

The dad-of-two, of the city's Barmulloch, pleaded guilty to two separate charges of dangerous driving and assaulting McDonald's employee Iain Campbell.
The court heard that Gemmel drove at excessive speed and under took a car causing it to brake on February 22.
Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said: "He said [to police] that he was in a rush to get home as his girlfriend said his young daughter was ill."
He then went on to throw a cup of juice at Mr Campbell at the drive-thru of a McDonald's.
Gemmel had been told that he was banned from the restaurant before launching the cup, but did not make contact.
The hearing was finally told that Gemmel was found to be driving with a damaged car on March 9 in Springburn.
Police pursued Gemmel who travelled at 70 miles per hour and went over road markings.
Miss Stevens said: "He told police the damage to his vehicle was due to someone striking it with an axe."
It was revealed that Gemmel has a previous conviction for dangerous driving.
Sheriff Paul Reid ordered Gemmel to do 210 hours of unpaid work and disqualified him from driving for 20 months.
He was also told to pay the McDonald’s employee £400 in compensation.
