A MAN has been arrested following an alleged early morning attack.
The 34-year-old was apprehended around 8am on Cathcart Street in Greenock on Wednesday.
The man is accused of an alleged robbery and assault of a police officer.
When he was arrested, the man was reportedly found in possession of a knife.
The Glasgow Times understands the officer was not assaulted with the knife.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police have arrested a male for robbery, possession of a knife and police assault in Cathcart Street, Greenock on May 3.
"The male was taken to Greenock Police Office and will appear at court at a later date.
"Officers are working hard.”
