A car was deliberately torched in an early morning attack sparking a police investigation.
The vehicle was set ablaze around 3.15am on Wednesday, May 10, on Rose Street in the Condorrat area of Cumbernauld.
The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
The force has deemed the fire wilful and is desperate to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries since the attack and believe the driver of a speeding car spotted in the area near the time may have information.
Detective Constable Craig Mclean said: “This happened in a residential area in the early hours of the morning. Thankfully the fire was reported quickly and safely extinguished.
“I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or has relevant private CCTV or dash cam footage, to come forward.
“Officers have been carrying out door-to-door and CCTV inquiries. It’s thought a vehicle was driving at speed in the area around the same time.
"Anyone who saw this vehicle, or has information about it, is also asked to contact police.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0360 of 10 May, 2023. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
