Verdict: Three stars.

While Post Malone may have enjoyed himself 'a little too much' ahead of his Glasgow gig, the artist proved he can hold an audience with his catchy, genre-bending tracks.

He emerged in a swirl of fog and flashing lights as he opened his gig at the OVO Hydro with Reputation.

Kitted out in a pair of Levi’s and a t-shirt emblazoned with a highland cow, the cowboy crooner swiftly changed gears from singer to rapper, greeting fans before diving straight into Wow.

“How the f*** we feeling Glasgow, c’mon?” the New York-born, Texas-bred multi-hyphenate bellowed.

Glasgow Times:

The crowd erupted as he launched into I Like You (A Happier Song) off his latest album, Twelve Carat Toothache.

Within three songs the artist alluded to a show that wouldn’t be boxed in by any genre, switching seamlessly between his hip-hop, pop, and rock-inspired hits.

The father-of-one melted the audience with his dad dancing and the infectious grin that spread across his face in the moments that he wasn’t belting out a tune.

“Glasgow, how the f*** we feeling?” he asked again.

He lifted a red solo cup to the sky: “Cheers ladies and gentlemen. I hope everyone is having an amazing night.

“My name is Austin Richard Post and I came to play some sh**ty songs and party a little bit while we do it, ladies and gentlemen.

“And I wanted to say, um, I appreciate y’all having me back in this beautiful city, in this beautiful country.

“I f***ing love you guys so f***ing much ladies and gentlemen."

Glasgow Times:

He added: “And I wanted to say, I ran around a little bit last night and uh, maybe a litte too much, but I wanted to say that the people here are some of the most kind and beautiful people in the f***ing universe.

“So thank you guys so very f***ing much ladies and gentlemen.

“As soon as I stepped down I felt f***ing right at home, so cheers Glasgow, thank you so very f***ing much.

“That being said, let’s party a little bit c’mon.”

The mood shifted throughout the night shifted from positive party-mode to dark contemplation as Post moved through his catalogue, cementing his status as an artist whose not afraid to be raw and alone onstage.

At one point audience member lobbed a shoe at the artist, which he proceeded to fill with his drink before taking a knee and chugging, a trick he undoubtedly learned in Australia earlier this year.

After Candy Paint, the 27-year-old issued another thank you to the audience before asking, “Can I sing y'all a sadder song?”

He said: “I wrote this next song about having your heart broken. And I know that I’m not the only one whose ever felt that way. It’s called I Fall Apart if you know it.”

The lyrics to the 2016 track rose from the audience as Post Malone writhed in the spotlight, singing to a camera below the stage before sitting down to belt out Euthanasia.

He told the audience to “keep being beautiful and spread love” before asking if he could “play some guitar” for the crowd.

Glasgow Times:

Post Malone welcomed a fan, Jack, to the stage to play the guitar while he lit up a cigarette for Stay.

After the track, the pair removed their shirts for a hug before swapping tops and posing for a selfie.

Sitting down ahead of the next song Lemon Tree, Post Malone said: “Glasgow, I’m f***ed tonight is everybody else?”

He added: “This song I always f*** up one chord and for some reason I just can’t get it, but if I f*** it up just please be gentle with me tonight.”

Next, the pyrotechnics came out in full swing for the artist’s rock-inspired tracks.

The grand finale of rockstar saw Post Malone doing push-ups before smashing a guitar and distributing the wooden shards to members of the audience.

Glasgow Times:

Nearing the end of the show, cigarette in hand, Post once again issued an expletive-filled thank you to the audience.

He said: “I appreciate y'all's love and y'all's patience. When I go to Scotland I usually have a little bit too much f***ing fun, so I appreciate y'all guys putting up with my moments tonight.

“This is one of the most amazing places in the f***ing world and every time I come I’m f***ing blown away by the kindess and the love of this f***ing town so thank you so very f***ing much ladies and gentlemen.

“Thank you for making me feel f***ing at home tonight.”
