A 'large' grass fire on a busy stretch of motorway near Glasgow sparked an emergency services response this afternoon.
At around 4pm, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) took to social media to report a blaze on the M73, between the junctions for Ballieston Interchange and Gartcosh.
Thick smoke is said to have covered the road in both directions causing potentially dangerous conditions for drivers as firefighters raced to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire, but thick smoke in both directions is presenting a hazard for drivers.
Please drive carefully.
Thankfully, the fire was soon safely contained and SFRS teams confirmed they had left the scene at around 4.45pm.
There is no longer a hazard for drivers in the area.
