EX-Celtic and Scotland star Craig Gordon delighted Glasgow pupils when he visited their school today.

The footballer gave insightful and inspirational advice to the Camstradden Primary kids as part of the inaugural Week of Football.

The SFA-credited programme is designed to support teaching and learning through the context of football, which is used by pupils and schools across Scotland.

And the 39-year-old's visit to the Drumchapel school was to chat about all the good work that the Learning through Football programme does.

The presence of the superstar at the school created a buzz amongst the children as they got pictures with the goalkeeper.

Speaking at the school, Gordon said: “This is exactly what I wanted to do, be the Scotland goalie, when I was playing for my school team nearly 30 years ago now.

“That’s where it all started, the dream to go and play for Scotland.

“My advice to anyone wanting to play any sport, not just football, would be to do it as much as you can.

“There will be hard times and there will be times that you feel that you aren’t good enough but just know that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

“Life is always going to be a zigzag, it is never a straight road.”

Acting headteacher Laura Davidson was delighted with the appearance of the Scotland star as she said that the school had a “buzz” about it all day and said they felt lucky to have Gordon visit them.

She said: “It was great to be asked and the buzz the children have makes all the long hours of arranging for sports events and classes worth it.

“We do focus on sport here and it is something that engages the children as you can see it in their writing.

“I really appreciate the Scottish FA for arranging it all to happen, it has made the children feel lucky that someone like him came to their school.”
