A woman has died after being hit by a car in Glasgow.

The incident took place near the junction of Farmington Gardens and Farmington Avenue in the East End, around 6.50pm yesterday.

It involved a blue Mercedes and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended, however, the 75-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for around four hours and reopened at 10.50pm.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans, Glasgow Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around this time and may have seen what happened.

“I am also appealing for anyone with relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 3546 of 3 June, 2023.”

This comes after we reported on Friday that a man died after being hit by a lorry on Duke Street.

Cameron Eaglesham was struck last Thursday in the East End and rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead later on.

The Glasgow Times also reported that more lives were lost on Glasgow's road this year so far than last year.
