A man has died after he was hit by a bus in the early hours of this morning in the West End.
The 39-year-old was struck by a bus on Argyle Street, near to Gray Street in the city's Finnieston today.
Police were called to the crash around 12.05am and the force said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 44-year-old male driver of the Volvo bus was uninjured. No passengers were injured.
The community page No1Seems2Care reported on the incident on their page saying police put "big barriers" around the bus.
Sergeant Nicholas Twigg from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Govan said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances and the cause of the crash.
“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information or personal footage that may assist our investigation to contact 101 quoting reference number 0008 of 5 June.”
The road death is the latest in a number across the city of Glasgow with four deaths since Thursday alone.
Last week, we reported on the death of Cameron Eaglesham, 44, who was struck by the vehicle on Duke Street at around 10.40am on Thursday, June 1.
We also reported on the death of 64-year-old cyclist John Morton who died after he was hit by a grey Audi A3 while riding his bike on Fielden Street. The crash happened on Monday, May 29 at 8.40am
At the weekend, a 39-year-old man died after he was hit by a red Scania HGV on the M74.
While a 75-year-old woman died after she was hit by a blue Mercedes near the junction of Farmington Gardens and Farmington Avenue in the East End on Saturday night.
The latest deaths come after we reported last week that more lives have tragically been lost on Glasgow’s roads so far this year than last year.
Several tragedies since the beginning of 2023 have resulted in pedestrians and a cyclist losing their lives.
Excluding the latest figure The Glasgow Times has reported on eight people – including two children – who have sadly passed away.
There has been a decrease in road traffic fatalities over the last three years, but this year has already seen an increase from 2022 – with more than six months left.
According to Police Scotland data, seven people lost their lives on the city’s roads last year, nine in 2021 and 14 in 2020.
