A Glasgow pub has paid tribute to a customer who was tragically killed after being hit by a bus near its premises.

John Robertson, 39, died in the early hours of last Monday on Argyle Street, near to Gray Street in Finnieston.

Now his local The Park Bar has paid tribute in a statement released today.

It read: "We are all broken hearted and still coming to terms with the loss of John Robertson early this week.

"John was not just a popular customer, he was a much-loved friend who touched the hearts of all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Fois agus Sith."

Others followed the tribute with one saying: "Just tragic, John was unique."

Another added: "John was a lovely person and will be sorely missed by many."

John lived in the city but his family are from Skye.

Police said last week they were investigating the crash.

Sergeant Nicholas Twigg, from the Road Policing Unit at Govan, said: "We are continuing with our enquiries to establish the circumstances and the cause of the crash.

"I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information or personal footage who hasn’t yet spoken to police to contact 101 quoting reference number 0008 of June 5."

We reported on Saturday that there have been 13 fatalities on Glasgow roads. In the whole of 2022, there were seven deaths.
