An elderly Glasgow cat had found her retirement home just in time for Mature Moggies Day.
Pepsi, aged 19, has now found her forever home after ending up in the Glasgow Cats Protection Adoption Centre.
She ended up in the care of Cats Protection’s Glasgow Adoption Centre when two dogs moved into her home and she understandably became unsettled. Her owner felt the best decision was to give her up for adoption.
The homeless moggy, however, quickly won the hearts of the centre’s staff and volunteers, however, one of Pepsi’s carers Helyn Nichol was especially charmed.
The deputy manager and her partner quickly opened up their home to Pepsi, shortly after the black cat was deemed fit to re-home.
Helyn said: “She has settled in amazingly. Within the first hour she had scoped the full house and chose her favourite spot to snooze in the sun.”
She added: “You would never know that she was such an old cat, and I would encourage anyone thinking of adopting a cat to consider offering a home to some of our more mature moggies.”
This comes after a recent survey from Cats Protection showed that older cats can take over three times longer than their younger counterparts to be re-homed, that is why the charity celebrates Mature Moggies Day each year on June 16.
Cats Protection’s behaviour manager Nicky Trevorrow added: “By adopting a mature moggy, you’ll be giving them a second chance at happiness in their twilight years as well as freeing up space in adoption centres so we can help even more cats.”
