Power has been restored to two Southside postcodes after severe flooding caused a 12 hour blackout.
A spokesperson from Glasgow City Council announced at 8.10am on Saturday morning that power had finally been restored.
They wrote: "The Power Failure affecting the G41 and G42 areas has now been restored throughout the night, and the traffic signals affected are back on and working."
Around 8pm on Friday night, Scottish Power warned of the looming power shutdown due to torrential rain and flooding.
Postcodes G41 and G42, encompassing the Southside and Toryglen, were originally warned the blackout would last two hours.
However, Scottish Power was forced to issue another statement at 10pm after major flooding within St Andrews Primary substation caused serious delays.
They said: “Restoration is taking longer than expected because of difficulties on site due to flooding within St Andrews Primary substation and our team are now working to get your electricity supply back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 8am.”
All traffic signals in the area were dark amid the power outage.
We previously reported that a large police presence was spotted in the area, including a lockdown of Aitkenhead Road.
