Sir Elton John dedicated one of his songs to Paolo Nutini during his last-ever Glasgow show.

The 76-year-old told the Hydro crowd - which included Paolo and his family - he listens to a lot of music thanks to his Apple radio show - and the Paisley-born singer's 2022 Last Night in the Bittersweet was one of his favourite albums last year.

He added: "I want to say thank you for the music. You're a real star."

He then dedicated 1974 hit Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me to Nutini. The star also duetted with George Michael on the same song in the 1990s.

We previously reported the English rocker declared Scotland as one of the most beautiful places he has ever seen.

The music legend was performing his 321st Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour show in the city tonight.

The show is the last he said he will ever perform in Glasgow.

He said: "Tonight is the 321st show on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. My third concert in this venue, my 28th show in Glasgow, 58th in Scotland. My last show in Glasgow. My last show in Scotland. Sorry. But this is the last show in Great Britain apart from Glastonbury which is not a Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour show.

"What a ride it has been for me. 52 years of incredible, incredible, amazing things. I have had the most incredible life and it is all down to you people because you bought the singles, the albums, the cassettes, CDS, vinyl and without you I wouldn't be sitting up here. You bought the tickets to the show which is the most important thing.

"I have always loved to play live to you guys. Glasgow has always been an amazing place to play."
