A Govanhill music programme for children has celebrated 10 years of life-changing work with a special concert.
Big Noise Govanhill launched in 2013 and now works with around 1,250 children and their families every week, supporting young people to reach their full potential.
Last week, children and young people performed at Glasgow Elim Church as they celebrated the programme’s special anniversary.
They were joined by Councillor Christina Cannon as well as members of the community.
Councillor Cannon said: “The performance by the children was very enjoyable and it was lovely to be with them to celebrate their achievements.
“It was fantastic to see the impact that the programme has had, and continues to have, on young people in Govanhill and the wider community.”
Mohammad Jibran Ali, 12, who is part of the programme, added: “I used to be quite a shy person, but Big Noise has helped me grow in confidence. When I come to play, I feel happy, and I can relax after my day. Choosing a word to describe Big Noise is complicated for me as there are so many thoughts and feelings but probably my number one word is fun.”
Big Noise is a programme delivered by the charity Sistema Scotland.
