An East Renfrewshire high school is looking to improve their education programme with new digital learning skills for pupils.
Mearns Castle High School in Newton Mearns became the second school in East Renfrewshire after Barrhead High, to join up with the Scottish education programme charity, Gen+.
Gen+ has taken a new approach to giving young people the best chance to succeed after school as they seek to develop the young workforce in Scotland through projects and meta-skills that bring a sense of joy and adventure to learning.
Meta-skills are foundations that would allow young people to achieve their goals such as self-management, social intelligence and innovation.

The partnership will see the school introduce new ways to develop their talents as they add them into their curriculum for pupils going into their first year at high school for the 2023/24 academic year.
Stuart Clark, Headteacher at the East Renfrewshire school, said: “We are thrilled to be building a meta-skills curriculum with the Gen+ programme.
“As educational leaders, our top priority is to equip our students with the essential skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
“The Gen+ programme is a game-changer for our school, empowering our students to become adaptable, resilient, and innovative individuals who are prepared for future challenges."
Mark Ratter, director of Education at East Renfrewshire Council, added that the programme will give students in the area the “best quality” of education and how Gen + will play a role in achieving that.
He said: “The feedback from Barrhead High School on the Gen+ programme has been very positive. So, introducing the programme to Mearns Castle High is hugely exciting.
“We want to ensure that every pupil who attends East Renfrewshire Council’s school gains the best quality of education possible and the Gen+ programme plays an important role in this.”
