A vacant former Topshop unit could finally get a lease of life after a major retailer asked Glasgow city council for permission to erect their signs.
Holland and Barratt want to display their illuminated signage on the empty store on 229 Buchanan Street in the city's style mile.
We reported on the health retailer's bid earlier this year to take over the unit. A new planning application, however, was submitted this week for illuminated signs this time.
The unit has been empty since the previous owners of Topshop went into administration in 2020. The brand is now sold via the online retailer ASOS.
A decision on the planning application is expected by August 18 and the last date for comments is July 7.
Holland and Barratt was founded in 1870 and have over 1,300 stores in 16 countries. In Glasgow, the retailer has units on Queen Street, Byres Road, Kilmarnock Road and Sauchiehall Street. They are also found in Glasgow Fort, Silverburn, Parkhead Forge and Buchanan Galleries.
