With the Summer Holidays officially beginning, it can be a challenge to keep your children entertained during those six long weeks.

Luckily, we’ve rounded up 11 unique and fun activities to get families out and about in Glasgow this Summer.

Glasgow Times:

1. Tollcross Childrens Farm Tollcross Park

10-3pm every day

Free

This East End park is the perfect place for children and adults this summer. The free farm has all sorts of animals including sheep, pigs, rabbits, ferrets and even alpacas. It also has a great outdoor space with big hills for cycling and the chance to watch a 3D version of the story of Cock Robin.

2. Reidvale Adventure Playground

Dennistoun 1-8pm

Tuesday to Friday

£0.50 per child

This play park offers a lot to children and adults alike for a 50p entry fee and plenty of activities are on offer to last you all day. These include a slide, swings, tennis court, trampolines and tennis courts. You can also make use of the wide-open space by riding around on the free bikes. Your donation also includes a snack and drink for the kids.

3. GoQuest Adventures

Merchant City

£28.95 for one to five players

A different kind of fun to have in the summer is taking part in a GoQuest Adventure. This event will begin whenever you want it to, as you play through the app after purchasing your quest. Children under 10 are free to play and it will take around three to four hours to complete. As you solve puzzles and clues you’ll get to see the city’s sights, such as Glasgow Cathedral and Ramshorn Kirkyard.

4. Waterstones Summer Holiday Fun

Free

Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street is the place to be this summer, as it hosts multiple themed events for children. Throughout July it will have various themes such as under the sea, mythical creatures, Scottish nature and Bluey. Each day will have activities and colouring as well as a story time at 11:30am.

5. The Childrens Wood

Free

Open 24 hours and completely free, this nature haven has no shortage of things to do. Whether you want to run around the woodland or play in the treehouse, the fresh air will do the whole family some good. The area is dog friendly and has plenty of plants and flowers, some of which you can even take the opportunity to grow while you’re there. For a £1 donation, children under five can join an outdoor playgroup at 11am on certain days as well.

6. Mackintosh at the Willow

Sauchiehall Street

2 to 3.30pm

While aimed at children aged five to 12, Mackintosh at the Willow is for all the kids who love arts and crafts. At various dates in July, you can make a bedroom door sign, stained glass window hanger and a metal pencil case. All craft designs are inspired by the tearoom’s artwork and adults accompanying children do not need to book a place.

7. Linn Park Adventure Playground

Netherlee Road, Glasgow

9.30am to 4pm

Free

Specifically designed for children up to 12 with additional support needs, this playground can accommodate anyone. After having fun in the play area, you can go to the centre which features a playroom, sensory room and accessible toilet facilities. The only downside is that capacity is limited and it’s advised you book seven days in advance.

8. Glasgow Green Play Village

Free

The location is one of the best things about this play village as it’s only a short walk away from the buzz of the city centre. It also appeals to children of all ages as the park is separated into two sections for different age groups. The older kids can enjoy a selection of climbing frames and slides while the younger ones play in the sand and on the see saw.

9. Kelvin Hall Lego Trail

West End

6am to 10pm

Free

A brand-new collaboration between Glasgow Life Museums and Glasgow Life Sport brings this Lego trail on the ground floor of Kelvin Hall. When you get there, just pick up a clipboard and see how many on the list you can find. The hunt will take the family around the reception, café, community displays and the National Library of Scotland.

10. Dumbreck Outdoor Play Barn

Pollok Country Park

10 to 12pm

£8.50 for one child

Aimed at the younger children aged one to six, the play barn encourages your child’s imagination. With police station, vet, theatre and shop play areas they can live out any ambitions they may have. As well as all this they can meet the barn’s very own miniature Shetland Pony. Adults can enter for free and there’s always the option of buying a tea or coffee for £1.

11. Queen's Park Arena Open Air Cinema

Southside

1.30pm and 6pm

Free

A mini film festival is one of the less active days out for the children but simultaneously one of the most fun. Family-friendly films like Aladdin, Matilda and Toy Story will be shown throughout July. Each movie will be shown on a large LED screen in the QPA amphitheatre and to make the experience even more enjoyable, you’re encouraged to bring your own blankets and cushions.
