A man was attacked by a pair of thieves who broke into his home in the middle of the night.

Two men broke into the property on Middleton Street in the Cessnock area at around 1.20am on Tuesday. 

They assaulted the 46-year-old victim and stole his laptop.

He was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries and an investigation into the incident has since been launched.

Cops are looking for the two assailants, who are described as having their faces covered and wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods up.

One wore dark trousers while the other wore grey trousers, and both spoke with Glaswegian accents.

 

Police Constable Scott Kelly from the Community Investigation Unit at Helen Street Police Office said: “We are appealing to members of the public who may have seen anyone matching these descriptions around the time of this incident.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may have any other information which could assist us, including dash cam and private CCTV footage, to get in touch.”
