Punters enjoyed a drink on the house at a Glasgow bar after a TRNSMT star paid for them.

We previously reported that Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton had decided to put money behind the bar at six pubs in the city ahead of his performance.

The 61-year-old made the generous donation to 226 Gallowgate, The Old Burnt Barns, Lynch’s Bar, The Braemar Bar, The Tolbooth Bar and Whistler on the Green.

And the team from Lynch's Bar has since thanked Heaton for the kind gesture, sharing some photos of customers enjoying a free drink.

They wrote: "Some photos from Friday, everyone enjoying a drink on Paul Heaton thanks."

The team at the Tolbooth Bar also shared a message to Heaton, saying: "Thank you to Paul for choosing our little pub to be a part of his kind gesture."

Heaton addressed the gesture while performing at the Glasgow Green festival on Friday, asking the crowd: “Did everyone enjoy their free pints today?

“Without getting too political, the more tax they charge you and the less they charge me. I’ll keep giving you beer.”
