Fire crews have raced to a blaze near an old Glasgow cinema.
Multiple engines and police vehicles were pictured next to the former home of the White Elephant cinema in Shawlands.
UPDATE: More than 40 firefighters are now on the scene as businesses evacuated
A stretch of Kilmarnock Road has been taped off.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they were called to a report of a building on fire.
They received the call at 6.59pm and six fire engines are currently on the scene.
A Traffcom warning has been issued by Glasgow City Council urging drivers to avoid the area, as the road is closed in both directions between Mount Stuart Street and Walton Street.
Police have placed a diversion in the area.
Police Scotland confirmed that they were called at around 7.15pm to help with traffic management.
There are not thought to be any injuries at this time.
