A man has been sentenced to over six years and six months in prison following a series of robberies in Glasgow.
Stephen Maguire was sentenced after several robberies within a three-week period in November 2020.
The 45-year-old used a knife and threats of violence against shop workers.
Yesterday, he was sentenced to 10 years and six months, which includes six and a half years in jail, following a trial at Glasgow High Court.
Police welcomed the announcement.
Detective Inspector Phillip Kennedy said: "We welcome the sentencing of Stephen Maguire who will now face the consequences of his actions.
“Through thorough investigation by detectives during the Covid-19 pandemic, Maguire was arrested and charged a short-time after the incident.
"The Community Investigation Unit, based at Govan, has since been nominated for the Divisional Commanders Award for Teamwork.
“I would also like to thank the public for their help with this enquiry.
“Threatening behaviour and robbery will not be tolerated in our area and we will always work tirelessly to ensure that such offenders are brought before the courts.”
