New images have been released showing the progress on an affordable housing development in Glasgow.

We previously reported that a mixture of one and two-bedroom amenity flats will be built at Langlands Road on the site of a former car park near Govan Cross Shopping Centre.

A total of 46 homes are being delivered for customers over the age of 55 and they are due for completion in spring 2024.

Glasgow Times:

Strong progress has been made at the £9 million development, which is being delivered by CCG Homes in partnership with Glasgow City Council, who contributed £5.7 million.

The flats are being built on behalf of the Trust Housing Association and CCG aims to ensure that residents will benefit from significantly reduced heat loss, thanks to the homes’ enhanced thermal performance, which will in turn help to control fuel bills and lower carbon emissions.

Glasgow Times:

CCG Director Calum Murray said: "We are delighted to see the progress being made at Langlands Road.

"This development showcases our company’s strength and depth across the entire delivery process, from land acquisition to securing of consents and construction, underpinned by CCG’s in-house technical expertise.

“This includes our method of build – CCG are pioneers of ‘offsite manufacturing’ in Scotland which, in our case, involves the creation of entire wall zones with pre-installed insulation, wall linings, windows and doors assembly in a factory setting that allows rapid build on-site.

“It’s an incredibly efficient way of building and helps deliver enhanced quality and energy performance standards as well as a drastically improved speed of delivery.

“It is one of two new build developments under construction by CCG in Govan that will provide over 130, much-needed, affordable homes.

"Langlands Road will be a valuable addition to the local community upon completion early next year and we thank Trust for their support in the delivery of this landmark project.”

Glasgow Times:

The milestone in the construction of the development comes as Trust Housing Association kicked off celebrations for their 50th birthday by merging with Wishaw & District Housing Association to create the new ‘Trust’.

Trust’s Director of assets and sustainability, Jackie McIntosh, said: “With the project due to complete in April 2024, we are now mid-way through the build programme at Langlands Road.

"It is great to see the buildings start to take shape in this key site in central Govan, close to our existing retirement development at Garmouth Court and Trust’s Govan Office.

“We’re grateful for the support of Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government in helping us increase the supply of much-needed affordable housing in Glasgow."

Jackie added: “These new homes will contribute to the ongoing regeneration of central Govan and have been built with energy efficiency in mind, with high levels of insulation and energy-efficient heating, as well as electric car charging points all of which will help our tenants with their bills and help us cut our carbon footprint.

“With excellent public transport links including Govan Subway Station and Govan Bus Terminal located only 200 metres away, along with the £29.5m City Deal funded Govan to Partick pedestrian/cycle bridge located only 300 metres away, our tenants will also benefit from environmentally travel options to access the City Centre, the West end and beyond.”
