Man caught in Glasgow with revolvers and drugs jailed

Allan Strachan, 41, was caught with the haul at a property in Glasgow's Drumchapel on July 3, 2020.

Court papers state Strachan had possession of a 0.30 calibre rimfire revolver.

He also had a 0.43 calibre pinfire revolver.

Strachan was further snared with ammunition which was six 0.43 pinfire cartridges and five 0.32 rimfire cartridges.

Strachan also held diamorphine in the cupboard of former co-accused Amanda Day, 47, which police officers raided.

Strachan was found guilty by a jury to two charges of possession of a firearm.

He was also convicted of possessing ammunition without holding a firearm certificate.

Strachan was lastly found guilty of being concerned in the supply of the class-A drugs.

Strachan - who previously did not have a lawyer - was represented by Graeme Brown at the sentencing.

He told the court that Strachan - a dad of one - maintains his innocence.

Judge Alistair Brown said: "Both of these revolvers were said to be in working order and the ammunition suitable for them was locked in a cupboard which was the address of your previous co-accused.

"A significant quantity of drugs and bulking agent were also recovered from the cupboard.

"This would have generated a significant cash value at the street level.

"Balancing the facts presented to me the appropriate disposal is seven years imprisonment."

Strachan was jailed for attempted murder in 2010 for an attack outside the High Court in Glasgow.

The attack - captured on CCTV - showed Strachan kicking and stamping on William McAlear's head.

Strachan received further sentences behind bars for prison and drug offences. 

Strachan was also granted leave 17 times in two years while he was locked up in the open prison Castle Huntly near Dundee.

A court heard during a previous curfew breach hearing that he was allowed to do the school run, throw a birthday party and celebrate Christmas with his son.
