A MAN caught with a knife while awaiting sentence for a similar offence was locked up yesterday.
Declan Kinnaird, 24, was caught with the blade in Glasgow city centre on March 3, 2023.
The city's Sheriff Court heard that police had been alerted to Kinnaird having the blade outside the Royal Concert Hall.
CCTV was used to trace Kinnaird who was later found by police on Sauchiehall Street.
Prosecutor Ross Canning said: "He was searched and at that point, a five-inch black knife was recovered."
The then-first offender had recently been convicted on an analogous offence.
He subsequently received a structured deferred sentence after his arrest.
Kinnaird pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to his latest charge of having a knife in public without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.
Bronwyn Moore, defending, told the court that Kinnaird had been drinking alcohol following the end of a relationship.
The lawyer added: "He says this is something that he now has under control."
Kinnaird, of the city centre, had his sentence deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Joan Kerr.
She said: "I have listened carefully to what's been said on your behalf.
"Due to the timing of this offence, I will revoke bail and you will be remanded in custody."
