Bellshill Post Office is set to reopen at a new location next month, restoring services to the area.
The previous permanent branch was forced to close due to the resignation of the Postmaster in August 2022, leaving the community without a nearby service until a temporary Post Office was set up a month later.
Now, residents in the area will have a new permanent Post Office opening on September 29 at 1pm in Spar on Main Street.
The temporary Post Office at Bellshill Shopping Centre in North Lanarkshire, which has been serving the community for a year, will close on September 28 at 5pm.
The temporary Postmaster who was providing the service will become the permanent Postmaster at the new location.
Taking over the former M&Co store, the newly refurbished Spar and Post Office will have three serving positions - two screened and a retail counter.
There will be a 14 hour boost in Post Office service each week to bring customers 58 hours of service a week.
The new location will have an advanced range of products and services including a comprehensive range of Travel Money, Passport Check & Send, Vehicle Tax, and On Demand Travel Insurance.
It will be close to the previous Main Street location and their will be level access with wide automatic doors at the entrance.
Steven Simpson, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to soon be restoring a permanent Post Office, with extended opening hours, to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.
"The branch’s opening hours will make it convenient for customers to visit.
"We are keen to provide a permanent branch to the area as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans."
