TWO men accused of being "bogus callers" demanded payment from their victim after the householder tried to cancel their appointment, say police.

The suspects made a cold call to an address in Pappert offering roofing work.

The duo then quoted a very high price for the "work" and became agitated and unhappy when the victim later tried to cancel the deal after becoming suspicious. 

Both men are described as white males in their 30s to 40s.

One was around 5ft 9ins with an English accent.

The other with a stocky build with a small beard and was wearing shorts.

The suspects had two vehicles described as being grey, carrying ladders on top.

Argyll & West Dunbartonshire officers are now appealing to anyone who may have seen the men or their vehicles on Tuesday, August 29 in Alexandria.

PC Kevin McCord from Dumbarton Police Station said: "Bogus callers often prey on the most vulnerable people in our communities and try to scam them into losing substantial amounts of money.

"We are looking for anyone who may have seen these suspects or their vehicles to come forward with information.

"We would encourage people to check their door cameras, dash cams, or other CCTV that you may have access to."
