A man has tragically died after he was hit by a bus while crossing the road in Giffnock.
The 73-year-old was making his way across Orchard Drive at the junction with Fenwick Road on Friday evening (September 1) around 4.50pm when he was struck by a bus.
999 crews raced to the scene but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 24-year-old bus driver was uninjured in the incident.
The Woodfarm area was locked down by police with a major cordon blocking off a number of roads following the collison.
An SPT spokesperson said: "We are aware that an SPT contracted service operated by JMB Travel was involved in a road traffic accident last night.
"This incident is now subject to a police investigation. Our thoughts are with all those involved."
An investigation has been launched by Divisional Road Policing Officers who are pleading with anyone who may have information about the fatal crash to come forward.
Sergeant Adnan Alam said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this very difficult time.
“Our enquiries into circumstances are continuing.
"This is a busy road and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not yet spoken to officers to please contact us. I am also keen to speak to any drivers who have dash-cam footage that may assist.”
