A Glasgow pub is hosting a one-of-a-kind experience which will involve guests eating their dinner blindfolded.

The Duke's Umbrella on Argyle Street is welcoming visitors to 'dine in the dark' and enjoy a sensory meal immersed in sounds and smells but without sight. 

In a first for Glasgow's dining experiences, guests will be completely blindfolded as soon as they enter the pub and they will be guided to their tables.

They will then receive a welcome cocktail before tucking into a sensory four-course mystery meal with a range of vegetarian and vegan options available for diners who would prefer or require them.

Funds raised from the event will be donated to Guide Dogs Scotland who help to find canine companions for people who are registered as blind. 

Furry friends can come along on the night too, as the event is dog-friendly.

Sandi Johnson, a local community fundraising relationship manager and volunteer at Guide Dogs Scotland said: “I am registered as legally blind, but I do have a small amount of useful vision which I use to raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity.

"I am lucky enough to have been matched with my guide dog and fur baby, Kane, a little over six years ago now and he has completely transformed my life.

"I can’t thank Duke’s Umbrella enough for getting involved with this event to raise much-needed money and awareness for us so that more people like me can benefit from the life-changing power of guide dogs.”

Dine in the Dark will be held at the Duke's Umbrella, 363 Argyle Street, Glasgow, G2 8LT on Thursday, October 19 from 6pm to 9pm.

Tickets cost £45 and include a welcome cocktail and four courses, with £10 going to Guide Dogs Scotland.
