THE probe into the death of a man in Greenock is ongoing.
We previously reported detectives, uniformed officers, and a forensics team rushed to a flat on Antigua Street in the town following the discovery of a body shortly after 7am on Thursday, September 21.
Since then, a post-mortem examination has been carried out on the 48-year-old man.
Police have confirmed they are still treating the death as "unexplained".
Officers have also revealed that investigations into the death are ongoing.
However, it is understood it is not being treated as suspicious at the time.
One eyewitness to the police activity told our sister title the Greenock Telegraph: “It looked as if something really serious had happened.
“The street was crawling with forensics, detectives, and uniformed police.
“I saw two marked police cars, a large police van, at least three plain-clothes cars and two forensics vans.
“The whole area was a hive of activity.”
In an updated statement this afternoon, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 7.05am on Thursday, September 21, police were called to a property in Antigua Street, Greenock, after the body of a 48-year-old man was discovered.
“A post-mortem examination has been carried out and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
