A new development of townhouses in Glasgow is launching this weekend.

Maltings Wynd was built on the site of the former Diageo distillery in Dundashill and comprises 78 three and four-bedroom homes.

Development partners igloo and Housing Growth Partnership will now showcase the development at its official launch at Clyde Property on Byres Road on Saturday, September 30.

Maltings Wynd is the second phase of homes to be delivered at Dundashill, with the first phase being apartments for mid-market rent.

Overall, the project will ultimately see 600 homes built on the site.

We previously reported that work began on the site in January, and the first homes are due for completion in early spring next year.

The development is located close to Glasgow’s canal and set around a sunken garden, with play areas, landscaped streets, viewing platforms and a central square.

While the area is enveloped in green space, Dundashill will be easily accessible from Glasgow city centre as a new pedestrian bridge connects them.

A new cycleway provides an easy connection to the West End too.

The townhouses, designed by award-winning architectural practices Stallan Brand and Ann Nisbet Studio, offer a choice of layouts, views and gardens, with lower carbon footprints as each home benefits from an air source heat pump and solar panels.

Each home will have water-saving showers and will be connected to full hyper-fast fibre broadband to support both home and hybrid workers.

It comes after igloo and its partners delivered the Maryhill Locks development, which saw the first release of the final phase fully sold out through Clyde Property on its launch day.

Peter Connolly, the CEO of igloo, said: “We are pleased to be able to launch Maltings Wynd at Dundashill, which blends green space and urban living; style with sustainability.

“It’s no longer enough to just build beautiful houses – buyers are looking for homes that not only suit their lifestyles and budgets but have as little impact on the environment as possible and are also highly efficient to run, with energy and water-saving features throughout.

“Given their location, design and sustainability, we anticipate high demand for these homes in the same way that buyers responded so positively to Maryhill Locks previously.”

The launch will be held at Clyde Property, 145 Byres Road, G12 8TT between 10am and 2pm.

Prices will start at £295,000. The homes are being sold through Clyde Property’s West End branch, with the first seven available for reservation.
