An East End cafe has been forced to close amid the cost of living crisis with staff losing their jobs, it is understood.
Cabin Cafe on Millerston Street will permanently shut its doors on Sunday, October 8 as rising costs have made business untenable.
Owner Rhiannon shared the news on social media on Thursday (September 28) and let customers know that Cabin Catering would still continue.
She said: "I would like to sadly inform everyone of the closure of Cabin Cafe.
"This has been my last resort and not an easy decision to make in the slightest.
"Due to the rising cost of living, we have been hit hard over the past couple of months and it just isn't sustainable anymore.
"Everyone is struggling at the moment whether it’s at home or a business and it is so upsetting to see the impact these price increases are having on people and their lives."
The Dennistoun cafe was a hit with the local community and while trading was 'very lucky and grateful for its loyal customer base'.
Rhiannon said: "Please be mindful that my staff are also losing their jobs and this is very upsetting for me and for them.
"I am one lucky lady to have had the most amazing, loyal, trustworthy and kind staff anyone could ever ask for.
"Laura has been the backbone of Cabin Cafe, she’s an incredible woman and I really hope her next employer knows how lucky they are to have her.
"I wish her and Sarah all the best in the future and thank you for both being amazing.
"Please support small local businesses whenever you possibly can.
"Your order could be the difference between paying their rent or closing.
"Thank you all so much and we are hoping to get through this next week without crying."
Cabin Catering will carry on without the cafe and existing buffet orders will still be fulfilled.
Response to the catering business has been "amazing" and Rhiannon said that it had taken off 'more than she could have imagined'.
She added: "I welcome any new bookings going forward. Although this is the end of Cabin Cafe, it is only the beginning of Cabin Catering."
Everyone is asked to visit the cafe in its final week to help the eatery use up stock and "make the last week as epic as the first week."
