A luxury hotel near Glasgow has been given a five-star rating by inspectors.
Crossbasket Castle in East Kilbride was recognised as one of the top-performing hotels in the UK and has been awarded an AA Inspectors' Choice 5 Red Stars Award.
The top rating for 2023 to 2024, the Inspector's Choice award is seen as the industry's 'supreme' accolade and celebrates hotels that stand out as the best, regardless of their size or style.
Crossbasket Castle opened in May 2016 as part of Inverlochy Castle Management International's (ICMI) global portfolio of luxury hotels.
Owners Steve and Alison Timoney restored the building from ruin and it is currently undergoing a £15 million expansion.
Once this is complete, Crossbasket Castle will be able to accommodate an extra 35,000 visitors each year and provide over 50 jobs for the local area, overall boosting Lanarkshire's economy by £1.2 million per annum.
The hotel's managing director Graeme Green said: “We are delighted to have achieved an AA Inspectors Choice 5 Red Stars for 2023 to 2024.
"This prestigious award is a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone at Crossbasket Castle and all those involved in its redevelopment.
“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Crossbasket Castle.
"The team and I are very excited about what is coming next and look forward to sharing more of the spectacular castle with local people and visitors from across the world.”
