Residents are being urged to keep their windows closed as fire crews are battling a fire in Glasgow.

Emergency crews were first called to a derelict building, understood to have been a former nursery, on St Michael's Lane in the East End shortly before 10pm on Tuesday night.

Firefighters are still on the scene extinguishing the fire and police have warned locals to avoid the area and keep windows shut due to smoke.

There are no reports of any injuries.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 9.55 to reports of a fire within a derelict building in Glasgow.

"Operations control mobilised six appliances to St Michael's Lane and firefighters are still in attendance.

"There are no reported casualties."
