A BODY has been found as police search for missing woman Lisa Wotherspoon.
Cops confirmed today a body was found near the Riverside Walkway in Motherwell at 10.10am this morning.
They say the family of Lisa has been informed and there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
It comes after we previously reported the North Lanarkshire woman was reported missing by police on Wednesday, October 4.
The 37-year-old was last seen at around 6am on Friday, September 29 in the Vulcan Street area of Motherwell.
It was unknown what direction she went in after being seen.
Following the tragic news, a relative of Lisa paid tribute to her on social media.
They said: "It's with deep sadness I write this. Lisa has been found this morning - she is sadly no longer with us.
"Rest easy Lisa, it doesn't seem real right now.
"Lisa, I'm sorry that no one was able to take away the pain that you were feeling inside, I'll never forget you or the memories growing up.
"I love you always - fly high."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.10am on Friday, October 6, 2023, the body of a woman was discovered near to Riverside Walk, Motherwell.
"The family of Lisa Wotherspoon has been informed.
"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
