Plans were submitted to demolish a vacant Glasgow building and replace it with flats, restaurants and shops in its place.

The bid would see the renovation of Buchanan House, at 58 Port Dundas Road in Cowcaddens.

Built in 1966, the structure hasn't been in use since 2022, due to "significant issues relating to structure, envelope, fire, utilities and energy", documents state.

Applicant Global Mutual/Davidson Kempner described the location as "incredibly well connected to local active travel routes", including bus and Subway travel.

The development, called One Cowcaddens, would include a build-to-rent element, consisting of 409 one-bed and 109 two-bed homes, adding up to 518 residential units.

This section would be made up of three towers of 11, 15 and 21 storeys, interlinked by an eight-storey building with a community roof garden.

A private-for-sale element is also planned, consisting of 76 flats. These would be 26 one-bed, 42 two-bed and eight three-bed homes, in a a split 12 and seven-storey tower.

A community facility, shop, cafe and parking spaces would also be included.

If successful, residents will also have access to several terraces, gardens, a BBQ, a play, a dining area and more.

Glasgow City Council bosses are currently considering the bid and a decision is expected by Friday, January 12, 2024.
