Glasgow family-run Italian restaurant Eusebi Deli is hosting a week of cheese tastings in partnership with London’s Italian Trade Agency.

Customers will be able to stop by the restaurant to taste a variety of Italian cheese for free, and learn more about each with information, tasting notes and recipes available for each cheese.

Tastings are taking place as part of the Italian Cheese Promotion in Glasgow from November 6 to 12.

Eusebi Deli staff will be on hand to help guests discover more about the cheese themselves, alongside the geography, history, and culture of Italy that makes them so special.

Glasgow Times:

Giovanna Eusebi, owner of Eusebi’s, said: “Our team at Eusebi Deli are no strangers to fantastic Italian cheeses, and we’re over the moon that Glasgow has been chosen as one of the key cities in the UK to host this promotion.”

He added: “We’re looking forward to sharing our knowledge and love of Italian cheese with our local community and building the profile of these incredible dairy products that epitomise the quality and care put into Italian ingredients.”

Many of the special cheeses on offer have been designated with a PDO status, a geographical indicator used on food products to mark exceptional quality and regional authenticity.

The PDO label, which stands for Protected Designation of Origin, or in Italian DOP (Denominazione d’Origine Protetta) guarantees the links between product and place.

Italian PDO and non-PDO cheese on offer will include popular favourites like Asiago, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella di Bufala, Burrata, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Pecorino Romano, alongside some that may be less familiar to the British consumer like Grana Padano, Pecorino Toscano, Provolone Valpadana, and Taleggio.

The Italian Cheese Promotion is an international campaign run by the Italian Trade Agency to raise awareness of the incredible quality and diversity of Italian cheese in Scotland and throughout the UK.

Its aim is to introduce the public to a wide range of Italian cheeses, and allow them to become familiar with preparing dishes and enjoying cheeses that may be new to the British consumer.

Giovanni Sacchi, director of the Italian Trade Agency in London, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be showcasing some fantastic Italian cheeses at Eusebi’s Deli.

“For this promotion we have worked with Assolate, the premier association of Italian Cheesemongers.”

He added: “We will be displaying some of the finest PDO cheeses and many others as well, ones that you won’t always find in your UK supermarket.

“The aim of this promotion is to get people more familiar with a wider range of Italian cheeses, some of which may be new to the British consumer such as the Provolone Valpadana, Scamorza, L’Italico and Pecorino Toscano.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be showcasing these cheeses in Glasgow as a part of our UK-wide and international campaign.

“We’ve recently participated in the Stafford Cheese fair too, where people literally went crazy for Taleggion and Asiago, as well as the very well-known Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano.”

A fourth-generation family business, Eusebi Deli has become one of Glasgow’s much-loved Italian eateries for its authentic dining experience with modern dishes, quality ingredients, and a warm and welcoming front of house team.
