A taxi driver has been left 'shaken' after being attacked in his own car.
His vehicle was parked at the bus stop of Blackthorn Road near Rowan Road in Cumbernauld in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A man then approached the taxi at around 12.30am and assaulted the driver before demanding money.
While the victim was not injured in the ordeal, he has been left 'extremely shaken'.
Officers are now investigating the incident and are trying to hunt down the culprit.
He was wearing a blue or black jacket, a disposable face mask and carried a white carrier bag.
Detective Sergeant Karen Murray said: “While the taxi driver was not seriously injured he was left extremely shaken by this incident.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to trace this man.
“He is described as wearing a blue/black jacket and a disposable face mask. He was carrying a white carrier bag.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area around this time and recognises this description of the man, or perhaps has relevant dash-cam footage which could assist us, to get in touch.”
