A man was jailed for seriously assaulting a woman in Motherwell.
Michael Hoban, 58, pleaded guilty at Hamilton Sheriff Court to the attack on a 47-year-old woman, which took place at a house in Cairn Grove, Carfin, Motherwell, on Monday, November 28, 2022.
He was sentenced today to 40 months imprisonment and given a 20-year non-harassment order against the victim.

Detective Inspector Lorraine Wilson said: “Hoban’s victim sustained serious injuries during this attack and our thoughts remain with her at this time. I hope that his sentencing gives her some comfort and allows her to move forward knowing that he now faces the consequences of his actions.
“Violent crime has no place in society and we remain committed to bringing those responsible for such crimes to justice.”
