A new cafe could take over a former retail unit if the local authority approves.
Plans have been submitted to transform a shopfront on Saltmarket into a cafe, the name of which has not been confirmed.
The site was home to a laundrette but has been vacant for an unknown amount of time.
If plans are approved, the new cafe will feature black Victorian-style awnings and tiles painted with Farrow & Ball's Charleston Grey paint.
Other proposals for the interiors include a draped fabric ceiling feature, stripped and polished concrete floors and a server with a tiled front.
Plans also mention bringing in spare loose chairs from nearby restaurant El Santo.
Operational hours would be from 9am to 9pm Monday to Sunday.
The last date for comments on the application is Wednesday, December 6.
The target date for a decision is Friday, January 5 2024.
