A 'wilful' fire which was started near Glasgow has sparked a police probe.
The blaze broke out within a close on Cathcart Street, Greenock, between 8pm on Friday, 10 November and 9am on Saturday, 11 November.
The force stated that the fire was put out by a member of the public and there were no reports of injury.
Now, cops have launched an investigation into the incident.
Taking to X, Police Scotland Renfrewshire and Inverclyde wrote: "We are appealing for information after a wilful fire-raising within the common close of Cathcart Street, Greenock, between 8pm on Friday, November 10 and 9am on Saturday, November 11.
"Police were not called at the time and the fire was extinguished by a member of the public. There were no reports of any injuries.
"Anyone with information that may assist this enquiry should contact 101 quoting reference number 1067 of November 13."
