Plans to extend a care home in Hamilton have been given the go-ahead.
Councillors on this week's planning committee approved an application to extend and alter Wellhall Care Home.
The plans will see a two-storey extension to the existing care home building which will be located on all elevations of the building and allow the facility to be upgraded to the required standards.
The improvements include adding 10 larger bedrooms and associated facilities and an additional terrace would also be formed on the ground level while the extended bedrooms would have patio doors providing access to private external terraces.
The expansions have been designed to reflect the appearance of the existing building and the existing residents’ gardens, while parking and drop-off area would be retained with an additional 12 parking spaces formed.
Planning officers recommended the extension and stated that a care home is an appropriate type of use within an urban area and the proposals to extend the facility do not raise any land issues.
